Spent the weekend in Yosemite. We got some good rain right around Thanksgiving. The original plan was to go Friday to Monday but because of the downpour on Friday we opted for a hotel room in Mariposa that night.
Saturday morning we set up to Yosemite, the arch entrance, and made our way to Degnan’s for breakfast. Afterwards we parked near Happy Isles and made our way to the trailhead.
It was grueling and beautiful. We took the John Muir Trail to the Backpacker’s camp, and on the way back we took a different route, the Mist Trail. The Mist Trail was harder to maneuver with our packs because 80% of the descent was covered in rocks. The JMT had a lot of switchbacks but it was easier to ascend. There was a lot of space for passing hikers and it was a slow moderate incline. Looking back I’m glad we took this route to camp.
Thankfully the rain gave the mountains beautiful snow, and the waterfalls were rushing.
Our last night we spent at the Upper Pines campground with some Thanksgiving leftovers, and a campfire.
We had a great time. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
